Who can use this feature?
- Global admins or users with advanced permissions
- Available on all plans
List attributes contain a list of predefined options that allows for one selection. You can use list attributes on the following data objects:
- Account
- Collection
List attributes are not supported for user object.
Modify a list attribute
Totango may add list attributes to your Data Model when you install SuccessBLOCs, such as escalation severity or business change reason. Or you can create custom list attributes.
You can disable values and add new values to a list, but you cannot rename or delete existing values. Disabled values will continue to be available for segmentation but won't be presented as an option when setting the value.
- From Settings, expand Data Management > Data Modeler.
- From the Account Information tab, search for the list attribute (or collection) you want to modify, and click to view properties.
The names of the list appear. - Disable list items that you don't want or add new items as needed. Drag and drop to re-order items.
- Click Save.
The changes to the list appear within the selected attribute.
Create a new list attribute
Create your own list attributes to track custom values. Steps vary depending on whether you add an account attribute or an attribute within a collection.
- From Settings, expand Data Management > Data Modeler.
- Account: On the Account Information tab, click +Add Account Attribute. Click List.
- Collection: On the Account Information tab, click to view the collection you want to modify. From the list of attributes, click +Add. From the Type drop-down, choose List, and then click Settings (gear icon) to add list values.
- Configure properties for the attribute:
- Display name: The name of the attribute.
- Description (account): Appears on hover over, but this value is not required.
- Dimension: Choose the dimension for categorization purposes.
- Editability: If you do not plan to update this value in Totango, clear the Editability check box. However, in most cases, Totango will be the source of truth for multi-select lists, so you will want to allow your teams to update this value manually or via SuccessPlay.
- Visibility and Default Values: Choose options for privileged access, hidden, or default values if updating via integration.
- Click Add New to add a new list item.
- Enter a name and click to save the item. The following special characters are supported in defining option values:
- ? ' " ( ) _ – [ ] & /
- Continue adding stages until all items are represented in the list.
- Click Save or Create Attribute.
Depending on the editability option chosen, you can set list values individually on an account profile, using a rapid insight form, using a SuccessPlay, editing a segment in bulk*, or by data integration.
If setting a list item from an integration, the value must match the name of the list item. The size of a list attribute is limited to 2K characters maximum, including all meta data.
*Editing collection attributes in bulk via segmentation is not supported.
See more for using list filters in segments.
