You can control what will happen whenever empty values are synced to Totango by defining the attribute default values.
Value
- Express your business data better by controlling the default behavior of attributes in Totango.
- Increase your information coherence, and make it more logical and consistent.
Use Cases
- As an admin, I am able to understand Totango system default attribute values.
- As an admin, I am able to configure default attribute values and override the system default attribute values.
- As a user, I can consume information is an understandable manner.
Real-life User Stories
- I am uploading usage aggregated information as attributes to Totango, whenever there is no data for a certain account, my custom metrics or segments criteria do not include the empty values.
I would like the empty values to appear as zero by default across the system. - I am managing customer classifications as attributes in my CRM, I am analyzing customer classifications in Totango scorecards and segments, and I would like to see the customers without a classification as "No Classification".
I am able to do it by setting the customer classifications attribute default value to"No Classification".
Where To Find It?
Go to Attributes and Metrics settings page, click on an attribute.
How To Use It?
Set up the desired default value for this specific attribute.
The default value behavior will be used in case this attribute is uploaded empty.
System defaults per attribute type:
- The system default value for text attribute is "delete".
An admin can change it to "previous value" or set it to a specific value. - The system default value for a numeric attribute is "delete".
An admin can change it to "previous value" or set it to a specific value. - The system default value for a date attribute is "previous value".
An admin can change it to "delete", set it to "today", or set it to any specific date.
Important Note
- There are several cases where there is a clear intention of keeping the value empty. Totango system will not override the empty values in these cases:
- Empty Salesforce values will be kept empty in Totango to make it aligned with the source system.
- Whenever the admin sends an empty value via Totango product integration (also known as an SDR), his clear intention is that this value will be kept empty. Totango will not change it.
- Whenever the admin sends an empty value via Integration Hub API, his clear intention is that this value will be kept empty. Totango will not change it.
