View your personal segments

Who can use this feature?

You can save personal segments to SuccessBLOCs or to My Folder.

  • The My Folder tab within the left navigation allows you to quickly access your personal folder.
  • You can also find personal segments from the search bar.

Private vs. Public

  • Private: By default, any segments saved to My Personal Folder are private and cannot be seen by other Totango users.

  • Public: Optionally make a personal segment public. This makes it easy for other Totango users to access these segments via shared URLs, without having to recreate them.

Other users cannot edit your public segments in My Folder. They can save a copy as a new segment if needed. Segments in My Folder cannot be referenced in SuccessBLOCs by other users (e.g., campaigns, SuccessPlays, or reports). When sharing segments that use the Is/is not in segment filter, confirm the recipient has access to the referenced segments.

Suggested uses for personal segments

Segments are typically related to a SuccessBLOC or a specific workflow (SuccessPlay) so everyone on the team can work from the same sets of data. Personal segments are useful for accessing accounts that pertain to one-off workflows, such as:

  • Create a copy of a public segment so that you can modify the filters for your own use (e.g., My Accounts in Onboarding).
  • Create segments to help you manage check-ins with your accounts (e.g., This quarter renewals).
  • Create segments based on triggers in customer activity to help manage proactive engagement (e.g., My accounts with no touchpoints in 30 days).
  • Create segments based on campaign outreach that you can help refine for future sends (e.g., My key contact campaign bounces).
