default setting for contact attributes

Need to add the ability to set a contact attribute to a default value if uploaded empty similar to account attributes

  Mike, what does it mean business wise defaut contract status ? is that a type of a contract?

  Contact not contract.  we use salesforce contact syncing and have to manually update each contact attribute to 'yes' for each contact that is synced over.  The request is to default the 'contact' attribute to yes

  We need to have contact=yes set by default also
