SuccessBLOC design is an iterative process. After you add a SuccessBLOC, refer to the following setup guide to personalize the SuccessBLOC and launch your program.

These steps are guidelines and do not require that you follow them in order.

1. Configure attributes

Attributes drive the data that runs everything in Totango. Data Modeler allows you to define how your customer data must be represented and stored.

  1. Review the list of attributes used by your SuccessBLOC.
  2. Within Data Modeler, locate the attributes and configure properties to ensure they match your processes.

2. Get your customer data into Totango

You can continuously add data to Totango—during your initial installation and at different points as you refine your journey programs. Common techniques for getting data into Totango include:

  1. Add accounts manually (recommended for a small sub-sets)
  2. Import from CSV (see required fields)
  3. Connect to another data source, like a CRM

If you're using Trial or Community editions, remove sample data when you're ready.

3. Review your data

After your data was added/uploaded successfully, review how your data looks in the SuccessBLOC.

  1. Edit the scorecard. Ensure the goals and KPIs that matter to you are showing the correct data.
  2. Adjust segments. If something is missing, click on the segment link in the KPI to adjust filter criteria or missing values.
  3. Invite collaborators (optional).

You can publish the BLOC to your team for visibility anytime, even if you haven't activated SuccessPlays and campaigns.

4. Customize and activate

SuccessPlays and campaigns are the automation tools that bring your initiatives to life.

  1. Edit SuccessPlays. Ensure trigger criteria, actions, and schedule match your processes. Activate when ready.
  2. Edit campaigns. Ensure design, subject, target criteria, schedule, and goals match your processes.
  3. Create and manage tracks within the canvas.
  4. Optionally hide SuccessBLOC tabs.
  5. Publish the BLOC to your team for visibility anytime.
